Sumthing had to happen

We, lifelong friends Mike, Gijs and Guido, set out to change the game of supporting nature. Too often, contributions disappear into something you never see again. We wanted to make nature recovery tangible by bringing real, effective nature projects together in one place and showing what happens on the ground. That’s why we founded Sumthing: a platform where you don’t just give to nature, you actually see what your contribution makes possible.

It’s easy to think one contribution won’t make a difference. We believe the opposite. Nature recovery doesn’t happen through one heroic gesture. It happens when thousands of people choose to do Sumthing. Over 100,000 supporters already prove exactly that. And to create the scale nature truly needs, we have a clear mission: uniting millions in nature’s comeback.

Impact always comes before profit. That’s why Sumthing is ‘Steward Owned’: a structure designed to protect our mission, so the company can never be driven by short-term profit or be sold for shareholder gain.

For every €6 you contribute, €5 goes directly to nature. The remaining €1 builds and runs Sumthing. It helps us grow the movement of people restoring nature, fund our platform, and track and verify impact, so ultimately more nature can recover.

We take selecting nature recovery projects seriously. That’s why we work with an independent panel of experts from organisations including WWF, IUCN and TNO. Together with Cambridge University, we developed a rigorous framework to assess every project we support.
